The busy person's guide to better health

Making time for fitness is one of the most important aspects to creating a healthy and productive lifestyle, yet it’s one of the first things to get pushed aside when deadlines, children, meetings and social obligations are calling.

Did you know that health and fitness helps with your overall happiness, performance, reduces stress and improves sleep? Below we discuss health and fitness tips to help you live a healthier, happier and fitter life alongside your busy schedule.

Break it up

Fitting in short exercises when you have time is just as effective as doing it all at once. For example, a 15-minute walk in the morning, 30-minute cardio on your lunch break and a 15-minute quick body workout in the evening. Breaking up your workouts into smaller chunks makes an hour’s workout seem less daunting and more manageable.  You can even do simple floor exercises without equipment in your living room or bedroom to improve your general health and strengthen different muscles.  Just don’t forget to do a warm up before exercising to try and avoid injuries.

Quick, easy and healthy food fixes

A busy lifestyle often leads to unhealthy quick food fixes like takeaways or ready meals. But who is to say that healthier alternatives take a long time to create? Invest time researching healthy alternatives that can be thrown together quickly no matter how tired you are. Take a look at some of the healthy food blogs listed below for some tasty meal ideas.  You could even try and cook more than you need so you can eat the leftovers the next day for lunch or freeze it for another day.

Make it a family affair

Busy people know that it’s not always possible to set aside dedicated time from your routine to attend a gym class.  You can combine your home commitments with exercise for example, why not take the dog for a longer walk, play ‘it’ with the kids or turn up your favourite music and have a dance in your living room during the TV ad breaks?  It helps to work out with friends or family as you can motivate each other to keep going and it increases your chances of sticking to your exercise plan.

So, whatever you do, no matter how stressed you are, remember to make time for your general wellbeing. It will make you happier, healthier and far more productive in the long run!
